Updated Timeline: Helping a Hero home dedication event, Georgetown, TX, 10 AUG 2018

Confirmed Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the dedication of a new home for a wounded warrior. The Helping a Hero foundation built a home for Army Sergeant Shane Ray. SGT Ray was severely wounded by an IED attack in 2006 in Iraq. Now he and his family will live in a specially built home adapted to his needs.

Date/Time: Friday, 10 August 2018. Ceremony to begin at 9:30 am.

Location: Morningstar development, NE corner Hwy 29 and Ronald Reagan Blvd, Georgetown, TX

Staging Location: Exxon gas station, 7600 TX-29, Georgetown, TX 78628, The station is about 1 mile east of Ronald Reagan Blvd, north side of Hwy 29.

Notes: Arrive fed, fueled, and hydrated. Fly your big flags! The PGR will be the lead of a short "parade", arriving at the home site ahead of the rest in time to dismount and form a flag line for the home dedication ceremony. At the conclusion of the remarks we will strike the flag line and depart.

Well, once all the powers that be finally got things straight, the mission was fine. 10 bikes and the flag truck attended the home dedication and established a flagline on the sidewalk in front of the home. We had front row "seats" for Lee Greenwood's song. Thankfully only one politician spoke, Cruz, and he was mercifully short, only about 7 or 8 minutes. Once Sen. Cruz presented the keys to the home to Sgt. Ray and he and his family entered the home we departed. Special thanks to Flag Wrangler Don, he had by far the hardest task of the day.
