Riders, this is a second mission for Wednesday. As it is a veteran's funeral mission, it takes priority over the Wall That Heals event in Cedar Park. If you have the option, please attend this funeral mission in Bastrop.

Confirmed Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the funeral service for 1st Sgt Robert W. Barnett. Sgt Barnett served in the US Marine Corps for 22 years, from 1975 - 1997, including deployment to the Gulf War.

Date/Time: Wednesday, 07 March 2018. Funeral service scheduled for 10:30 am.

Location: First Baptist Church, 1201 Water St, Bastrop, TX 78602. We will stage at the church.

We had 14 in the flag line today, nice turnout especially considering we had the other mission in Cedar Park at the same time. We stood the flag line at the perimeter of the congregation gathered outside for the military honors ceremony prior to the church service. Rifle salute, taps, and folding of the flag and presentation to the family as though it were graveside.

Many family members and the pastor walked the flag line and thanked us for our presence. Once everyone went inside the church we struck the flag line and went home.

One interesting thing we learned about Sgt Barnett is he was the avionics officer for Marine One from the Reagan through the Clinton administrations.

We had one first time rider, which is always great to see. Thank you to all who attended, especially Don, who braved 2+ hours of traffic to bring the flags.

RIP 1st Sgt Robert W. Barnett.
